Liberty is the highest political end of humankind

Lao Tzu (6th century B.C.): “The more artificial taboos and restrictions there are in the world, the more the people are impoverished…The more that laws and regulations are given prominence, the more thieves and robbers there will be…”

“The Sage says: ‘I take no action, yet the people transform themselves, I favor quiescence and the people right themselves, I take no action and the people enrich themselves…'”

Chuang Tzu (369-286 B.C.): “I would rather roam and idle about in a muddy ditch, at my own amusement, than to be put under the restraints that the ruler would impose. I would never take any official service, and thereby I will [be free] to satisfy my own purposes.”

“There has been such thing as letting mankind alone; there has never been such a thing as governing mankind [with success].” The world “does simply not need governing; in fact, it should not be governed.”

Pao Ching-yen (4th century A.D.): “Where knights and hosts could not be assembled, there was no warfare afield…Ideas of using power for advantage had not yet burgeoned. Disaster and disorder did not occur…People munched their food and disported themselves; they were carefree and contented.”

Ssu-ma Ch’ien (145-90 B.C.): “Each man has only to be left to utilize his own abilities and exert his strength to obtain what he wishes…When each person works away at his own occupation and delights in his own business, then like water flowing downward, goods will naturally flow ceaseless day and night without being summoned, and the people will produce commodities without having been asked.”

These early beginnings of the idea began here but can be traced through thinkers of ancient Greece and Rome and through the Middle Ages, until the notion swept the world in the 18th and 19th centuries, giving rise to unheard-of prosperity, liberty and peace for all. In the 18th century and in large parts of the world (other than the English-speaking world), laissez-faire has been called liberalism or classical liberalism, a doctrine of social organization that can be summed up in the words of Lord Acton: Liberty is the highest political end of humankind.

USA Preparing for civil unrest

R.I.P. : Posse Comitatus Act June 18, 1878 prohibits domestic military intervention

.357 hollow point 174,000      Social Security Administration

.357 hollow point 46,000        National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration

.40   hollow point 750milllion Dept Homeland Security

.357 hollow point 450milion   Dept Homeland Security

Ammunition to be delivered to 41 locations across U.S.  First it was the Department of Homeland Security, then it was the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and now the Social Security Administration is set to purchase 174,000 rounds of hollow point bullets that will be delivered to 41 locations across the country.

A solicitation posted by the SSA on the FedBizOpps website asks for contractors to supply 174,000 rounds of “.357 Sig 125 grain bonded jacketed hollow point pistol ammunition.”  An online ammunition retailer describes the bullets as suitable “for peak performance rivaling and sometimes surpassing handloads in many guns,” noting that the ammo is “a great personal defense bullet.”  The synopsis to the solicitation adds that the ammunition is to be shipped to 41 locations within 60 days of purchase. A separate spreadsheet lists those locations, which include the Social Security headquarters in Baltimore, Maryland as well as major cities across the country including Los Angeles, Detroit, Oklahoma City, Dallas, Houston, Atlanta, Denver, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh and Seattle.

Hollow point bullets are designed to expand as they enter the body, causing maximum damage by tearing apart internal organs.  It’s not outlandish to suggest that the Social Security Administration is purchasing the bullets as part of preparations for civil unrest. Social security welfare is estimated to keep around 40 per cent of senior citizens out of poverty. Should the tap run dry in the aftermath of an economic collapse which the Federal Reserve has already told top banks to prepare for, domestic disorder could ensue if people are refused their benefits.

Indeed, earlier this year the Department of Homeland Security ran a drill called Operation Shield which included turning the entrance of a Florida Social Security office into a checkpoint manned by Federal Protective Service officers armed with semiautomatic rifles.  “With their blue and white SUVs circled around the Main Street office, at least one official was posted on the door with a semiautomatic rifle, randomly checking identifications. And other officers, some with K-9s, sifted through the building,” reported the Daily Commercial.   A rash of solicitations by federal agencies for hollow point bullets in recent months has stoked fears that the government is preparing for civil unrest caused by a financial collapse on a scale similar or even larger to scenes already witnessed in Europe over the last two years.

As we reported yesterday, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has put out a contract for 46,000 rounds of hollow point bullets along with 500 paper targets.  Despite initially asking the bullets to be delivered to the National Weather Service, NOAA claimed this was a “clerical error” and insisted the ammunition was being sent to the Fisheries Office of Law Enforcement. Why powerful hollow point bullets that are designed to tear apart internal organs are needed for practice shooting at paper targets has not been explained.

Back in March, Homeland Security purchased 450 million rounds of .40-caliber hollow point bullets that are designed to expand upon entry and cause maximum organ damage, prompting questions as to why the DHS needed such a large amount of powerful bullets merely for training purposes.  This was followed by another DHS solicitation asking for a further 750 million rounds of assorted bullets, including 357 mag rounds that are able to penetrate walls.  The DHS recently put out an order for riot gear in preparation for the upcoming DNC, RNC and presidential inauguration. The U.S. Army is also busy buying similar equipment.  The DHS also recently purchased a number of bullet-proof checkpoint booths that include ‘stop and go’ lights.

Olympians, meet your personal IRS Agent

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Some unwanted bureaucrats waiting for Michael Phelps………. agents of the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Tax the Gold, Silver and Bronze

It seems the U.S. Internal Revenue Service has its greedy eyes on every winning American athlete in London. That’s because a gold medal, worth about $650 at current gold prices, could cost athletes about $236 in taxes. While a bronze medal, which is worth $5, could only cost an athlete $2 in taxes.

The real bite, however, is not medals, but the taxes to be taken out of Olympians’ cash bonuses. The U.S. Olympic Organizing Committee awards 2012 U.S. champions $25,000 for a gold medal, $15,000 for silver and $10,000 for bringing home a bronze.

For example, Allison Schmitt swam a sizzling final leg to lead the U.S. to a gold medal in the 4×200 freestyle relay. Congratulations, Allison. You now owe the IRS $26,679. Michael Phelps, with his stunning performance, owes somewhere in the range of $45,000 for his 2012 victories.

At a 35% income tax rate, for each medal, bronze medalists will owe the IRS a total of $3,500, silver medalists will owe $5,250 and top finishers will be liable for $8,750, according to calculations by Americans for Tax Reform.

Rubio’s Reform

Senator Rubio says we should end the current U.S. system of “worldwide” taxation and shift to “territorial” taxation, the common sense idea of sovereignty applied to taxes. If income is earned inside a nation’s borders, that nation gets to decide how and when it is taxed.

Continuing Battle for Tax Freedom

The Olympics have exposed a continuation of the global battle between conservative and libertarian advocates of source-based (territorial) taxation on one hand, and those high-tax leftists who want residence-based (worldwide) taxation, on the other. That, unfortunately, is current U.S. tax law.  President Obama, the Democratic Party, the Organization for Economic and Community Development (OECD), and “Tax Justice Network,” avidly support worldwide taxation that allows their big spending government to collect tax on any income taxpayers earn worldwide.   But, to tax income earned outside their borders, government’s tax collection agency, such as the IRS, must be aware of the income; thus the PATRIOT Act, the demand to eliminate all financial privacy, the bullying of governments such as Switzerland, the attempt to impose FATCA on every bank in the world.

In contrast, under the territorial method of taxation, countries such as Panama and Uruguay, for example, reserve the right to tax the income earned inside their borders, regardless of who earns the money; but they do not assert the right to tax income earned in other countries.

Medical care will be worse under Obamacare

Thursday, August 9th, 2012

Robert S. Dotson, M.D. tells us why:

As income reductions are being imposed on private practice, costs are being driven up by exploding regulations. In addition, the plethora of new mandates and laws have increasingly criminalized every aspect of the practice of medicine and created vast new armies of armed bureaucrats whose sole aim is to impose civil and criminal penalties on any provider unlucky enough to be singled out for attention…

New restrictions, rules, and regulations on healthcare – on providers and patients alike – have imposed legal constraints with which full compliance is impossible. Medicare rules and regs alone fill tens of thousands of pages, and ignorance of any of them is no defense for the unlucky. The original HIPAA legislation has been amplified with many additions since its inception in 1996: FERPA, HITECH, ARRA (2009). Each additional act or regulation has further criminalized the practice of medicine…

My own solo cardiologist was forced to close his practice last fall and seek employment with an area hospital, due to…

Obamacare Rationing Begins: States Cutting Drug Benefits

Wednesday, August 8th, 2012

Steven Ertelt | Washington, DC | LifeNews.com  7/31/12

When Congress pushed the Obamacare bill through, groups warned about rationing that could take place as a result. Although liberal groups and the mainstream media laughed at the projections, they are now coming to pass.

A new report from Kaiser Health indicates states are now moving in the director of capping or cutting prescription drug benefits.

Illinois Medicaid recipients have been limited to four prescription drugs as the state becomes the latest to cap how many medicines it will cover in the state-federal health insurance program for the poor.

Sixteen states impose a monthly limit on the number of drugs Medicaid recipients can receive and seven states have either enacted such caps or tightened them in the past two years, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation (KHN is a program of the foundation). The limits vary across the country. Mississippi has a limit of two brand-name drugs. In Arkansas adults are limited to up six drugs a month.

Since June, Alabama has had the nation’s stingiest Medicaid drug benefit after limiting adults to one brand-name drug. HIV and psychiatric drugs were excluded. On Aug. 1 the state will relax the limit to its previous level — four brand-name drugs — after the restriction saved more money than expected and the state received money as part of a settlement with a pharmaceutical company.

Other states with Medicaid drug limits are Arkansas, California, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah and West Virginia.

Rationing issues in Obamacare have long been a concern of pro-life groups. Although the death panels — the voluntary advanced care planning that pro-life advocates have been concerned about because it could have doctors financially motivated to promote less medical care and lifesaving treatment — occupied most of the debate, the National Right to Life Committee says other provisions cause concern.

NRLC has said Obamacare contains “multiple provisions that will, if fully implemented, result in government-imposed rationing of lifesaving medical care.”

The department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be empowered to impose so-called “quality and efficiency” measures on health care providers, based on recommendations by the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which is directed to force private health care spending below the rate of medical inflation. In many cases treatment that a doctor and patient deem needed or advisable to save that patient’s life or preserve or improve the patient’s health but which runs afoul of the imposed standards will be denied, even if the patient wants to pay for it.

The law empowers HHS to prevent older Americans from making up with their own funds for the $555 billion the law cuts from Medicare by refusing to permit senior citizens the choice of private-fee-for-service plans whose premiums are sufficient to provide unrationed care but which HHS, in its unlimited discretion, disallows. The Obama health care law could thus lead to elimination of the only way that seniors will have to escape rationing — by limiting their right to spend their own money to save their own lives.

LATEST TYRANNY: DICTATING HOW MEN PEE

Navy emulating Sweden on urination rules

Less ↑The war on men peeing is being lost. Well, it’s being lost by men. It’s being won by statists, specifically society’s most vocal and irrational “feminists” – men and women alike, liberals all, who envision for their progressive, utopian America a sexless land in which the state rules all and every citizen lives in government chains. Evidence this mindset has reached the highest level of our government is found in the announcement, last month, that the United States Navy will not install urinals in its new “gender neutral” aircraft carriers.

“The change heralded by the Gerald R. Ford class of carriers,” reports CNN, “is one of a number of new features meant to improve sailors’ quality of life and reduce maintenance costs. … Omitting urinals lets the Navy easily switch the designation of any restroom … helping the ship adapt to changing crew compositions over time.”

The real reason for the change, of course, is to accommodate female crew members, as acknowledged in the CNN piece. If the maintenance issues associated with urinals were truly a concern, these would have been done away with many years ago. One would think that the rampant pregnancy problem aboard Navy ships would be of greater concern. In 2005, the Navy Environmental Health Center reported that 64 percent of all pregnancies among enlisted female sailors were unplanned. Then there’s the Navy’s very serious problem with sexually transmitted diseases. Against these figures, whether male sailors are standing to pee seems fairly unimportant … but in a world ruled by hostility toward traditionally expressed male heterosexuality, forcing men to sit to pee is the dominant issue in the libs’ tiny minds.

The result is as we’ve seen in the new, sexless, yet hopelessly oversexed Navy: Men will now experience longer lines because it is faster to use a urinal than to use a toilet. Because they will still stand to urinate, their bathrooms will be less clean. This, in the minds of the libs and their gender-obsessed activists, is how equality is achieved.

The next step will be, as a matter of policy, to force male sailors to sit down to urinate, emasculating them by forcing them to behave as women in their most personal of daily activities. If you think that’s unlikely, you need look no farther than Sweden to see it proposed as policy.

Sweden’s Left Party suggested recently a law ordering men to sit to urinate. Claiming that forcing men to urinate like women somehow affords those men medical benefits – completely contradicting understood medical facts about the process of eliminating bodily wastes – Sweden’s leftist totalitarians apparently are “studying” the issue, at least in part because they’re not yet certain how to enforce it.

But Sweden is particularly susceptible to irrational, anti-male governmental policy, owing to its history of dominance by radicalized and gender-based political groups. “From being admired and envied by many as beacons of sexual enlightenment from the ’60s, the Scandinavian countries today have some of the most repressive sex laws in the Western world. Sweden is the most draconian. The message conveyed by recent laws is clear – your sexuality is the property of the state, and the state will claim its right to regulate and punish that sexuality wherever you may be.”

Only a miserable lib could believe it is ever the appropriate role of the State to govern how you pee. Yet that is the campaign now being waged in contemporary society. The dirty little secret, implied but not acknowledged, is that men possess an ability, biologically, that women do not. They can easily and accurately urinate while standing. To the liberal mind this disparity, this grievous lack of biological equality, must be corrected.

It is not enough that men be inconvenienced by removing their urinals and reducing their bathroom space; they must be punished for having penises. Thus, they will be ordered to urinate sitting, as women do, to teach them a valuable lesson about how a good liberal treats his fellow citizens. Thus shall we all march – er, sit – into the brave new world leftists are building for us.

US Income:  $32,700 Welfare vs. $32,400 Taxpayer

Maybe this is Just a Conspiracy Theory, But … Have you ever wondered whether the government – both Democrats and Republicans – secretly wants a nation addicted to welfare? Sure would make for a more-compliant bunch of voters when the bulk of Americans are dependent on Uncle Sam for their bread and tuna. I tucked away a report earlier this year that tracks a dependency index, and among the latest findings it showed that those who take from the government (let’s call them Thy Brothers) received benefits of about $32,700 from the government in 2010. Those who earn money and pay taxes in America (let’s call them Thy Brothers’ Keepers) earned on average about $32,400. Is it just me, or is there a terminal flaw in the system when Thy Brothers are living larger than Thy Brothers’ Keepers?

If you want to see the true impact of this addiction to dependency…look no further than the $1 trillion Farm Bill the House passed last month. A huge chunk of the spending has nothing to do with farms or farmers … it’s earmarked for food stamps. We, Thy Brothers’ Keepers, now spend about $80 billion a year on food stamps. In the 1970s, one in 50 Americans received food assistance from the government. Today, it’s a stunning one in 7. But to see just how broken the system really is, dig a bit deeper. Half of all the folks receiving food assistance have been on the program for more than eight years. That, dear reader, is a sign of dependency.

In all, more than 67 million Americans – about 22% of the country – depend on the government for their livelihood. That number will only grow as more Boomers fall into Social Security, as Obamacare lassos more Americans into a government health network and as failed economic policies create more Americans who are (wink wink) permanently disabled. Sooner or later, we reach a point where the Entitlement States of America runs out of other people’s money. Then what?

As increasing numbers of Americans depend on government checks, who will vote to put the country back on the right path morally and economically? No one … that’s who. When the goose of government is dropping golden eggs into your lap, no voter will willingly vote to sweep clean the current political system for fear they strangle their own source of free money. Face it, people: America today is a lot like California – a bloated, overtaxed, dysfunctional mess that’s unfriendly to wealth and which needs to split into smaller jurisdictions. Maybe we all move to the Republic of Texas. It’s the future. – Jeff and Erika

USA to become Europe

Here is a video by Dick Morris, President Clinton’s former advisor.  It’s relatively short and is worthwhile as he relates his theory of what Obama is attempting to do. This is why the 2012 election is so important:

Food Stamp Nation USA

Wednesday, August 1st, 2012

The Food Stamp Program, administered by the U.S. Department of Agriculture, is actually proud of the fact it is distributing the greatest amount of free meals and food stamps ever!

Meanwhile, the National Park Service, administered by the U.S.  Department of the Interior, asks us to “Please Do Not Feed the Animals.”  Their stated reason for the policy is because the animals will grow dependent on handouts and will not learn to take care of themselves.

There has to be a learning experience somewhere in this story if I could just figure it out………..
